Today, December 11, the MUD 95 Board voted to hire a licensed, bonded company, Texas Wild Hog Control, to handle the feral hog issue in Harper’s Preserve. This company partners with Texas A&M, the US Department of Agriculture and Texas Parks and Wildlife in eradicating problem feral hog populations. Beginning tomorrow, December 12, board members will meet with the company to go forward with the penning procedures and removal of the ferals. This is not expected to be a quick resolution, but is expected to take up to several weeks and possibly several pennings before the situation is under control.

Residents will begin seeing the pens that will be used to lure the hogs to a central location or locations as needed. Parents should explain to their children that these pens are not play areas and should not be approached during this process for obvious safety reasons.

MUD 95 is prepared to continue the contract until the issue is satisfactorily resolved. MUD 95 encourages all residents to let the professionals do their jobs. While we continue to deal with the feral hogs, residents are reminded that these hogs can be dangerous to other animals (including loose pets) and humans. MUD 95 considers this to be a dangerous situation and is working to get the situation rectified in the quickest and safest manner.
